Errant bullet rips into Bridport home

BRIDPORT — Vermont State Police are investigating another firearm-related incident in the Swinton Road neighborhood of Bridport, though fortunately this time no one was injured.

In this latest case, reported on Aug. 8, Swinton Road resident Rick Scott found a bullet lodged in the second-floor office of his home. Scott told police he suspected the bullet might have come from a coyote hunter who witnesses said drove into the area that day in a green Subaru station wagon and allegedly fired several shots in the direction of the residence.

VSP releases names of troopers in Salisbury shooting incident

SALISBURY — Vermont State Police late Friday released the names of the two troopers who were first to arrive on the scene at an incident early Thursday morning that ended in the death of 52-year-old Gerald “Dusty” Woodburn. State police said Woodburn took his own life following his involvement in a domestic dispute at his home off Lake Dunmore Road during the early morning of Nov. 17.

Update: Salisbury man dies in shooting incident with VSP

SALISBURY — Vermont State Police reported that a Salisbury man apparently shot and killed himself early this morning after troopers were called to his home for a domestic dispute, and the man pointed a gun at them.

VSP this afternoon said that Gerald “Dusty” Woodburn, 52, died in the incident, but no one else was injured.

Bristol couple arrested after Hinesburg shooting incident

BRISTOL — Vermont State Police arrested two Bristol residents on drug and aggravated assault charges on Wednesday following a shooting incident in Hinesburg.

The incident stemmed from a complaint from Shawn Holbrook, 34, of Hinesburg, who alleged he was shot at on Wednesday at about 12:30 a.m. while driving his vehicle near the intersection of Route 116 and Mechanicsville Road in Hinesburg. Police confirmed two bullet holes in the driver’s side door and were subsequently able to recover evidence of the shooting at the scene.
