How many voters turned out on Town Meeting Day?

ADDISON COUNTY — On Town Meeting Day, how did voter turnout vary across Addison County? And how did this year’s numbers compare to past years?

To answer these questions, the Independent pulled the figures for the percent of registered voters casting votes in Australian ballot elections in eight towns over the past five Town Meeting Days — dating back to 2008 — and compared the number of voters with the number of registered voters for a given year.

Ripton eyes two votes for school plan

Bristol reorganizes budget lines

BRISTOL — The Bristol selectboard at their Monday meeting continued ironing out a proposed town spending plan for the next fiscal year, addressing budgets for the recreation department, the Lawrence Memorial Library and the town’s waste disposal programs.

The recreation department spending plan for next fiscal year, which has not yet been finalized, is likely to see a noticeable hike, according to Town Administrator Bill Bryant.

Report mailing, rec money on city ballot

VERGENNES — Vergennes aldermen on Jan. 10 adopted two articles for voter consideration on Town Meeting Day: one that would devote $37,000 to improvements to the city’s recreation area and another that would end the practice of mailing annual reports to every Vergennes household.

Aldermen also discussed adopting a conflict of interest policy, possibly at their next meeting, set for Jan. 31, and broadened their search for a new police station site.
