Three arraigned after Hancock meth bust

HANCOCK — Vermont State Police arrested three Hancock residents on charges of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine  on Tuesday, Nov. 20, following an investigation at their respective homes off Route 125.

Local police and their dogs to make cameos on TV show

VERGENNES — Two Vergennes Police Department members, one Vermont State Police trooper from the New Haven barracks and two police canines from those agencies are set to make cameos on this week’s episode of “Golden Boy,” a CBS show that debuted in February.

Vergennes Police Chief George Merkel and his dog, Akido; Vermont State Police Sgt. Eugene Duplissis and his canine, Argus; and Vergennes detective Jason Ouellette were all invited to New York City in October to film brief appearances in the show.

Vermont State Police Log: N.Y. man runs car off the road twice in one night

ADDISON COUNTY — Thursday, Jan. 10, was a bad night for a 23-year-old man from Elizabethtown, N.Y., when it came to driving on Addison County roads.

At a few minutes after 8 p.m. that evening Vermont State Police responded to a one-car crash on Route 125 in Cornwall. Trooper Timothy Hanley reported that the driver, Nickolas Mahler, told him that he swerved to miss a deer, and, in doing so, drove his 2011 Chevy Impala off Route 125 and into a small grove of trees. The accident resulted in front-end damage to the vehicle, but no one was injured.

Vermont State Police Log: Man lodged after allegedly violating abuse prevention order

ADDISON COUNTY — On Dec. 7 at around 1:30 p.m. Vermont State Police in New Haven responded to the report of an abuse prevention order violation in Ripton.

As a result of their investigation, troopers arrested Brian Booska, 37, of Middlebury for violating an abuse prevention order. He was lodged at the Chittenden County Correctional Center for lack of $10,000 bail.

Separately, a New Haven woman was jailed last Friday as the result of allegedly engaging in two assaults, as well as having contact with a man with whom she is legally barred from contacting.

VSP log: Police stop knife-wielding driver

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police received a report of a road rage incident between two motorists actively taking place on Route 7 in the New Haven at a little after 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29. It was reported that one of the drivers was making slashing motions toward the other driver in the car and also raising his knife through a sunroof while making slashing motions toward the other driver.

Vermont State Police Log: Troopers investigate theft of change

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police, in addition to dealing with a variety of traffic accidents and handing out various citations, are investigating two recent cases of local home burglaries in which stashes of change were reported stolen.

On Oct. 4 at 4:19 p.m. troopers were called to investigate the burglary of a residence on DeLong Road in Cornwall, where items reported stolen included a coffee can of change valued at $50. There were no signs of forced entry. It is estimated that the burglary occurred that Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

State Police Log: Waltham shooting under investigation

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police are looking into a shooting incident in Waltham.

On Wednesday, Sept. 26, at approximately 6:20 p.m. VSP and Vergennes police responded to 7441 Ethan Allen Highway in Waltham for a report of a house being shot at.

Upon arrival police found that the southwest door of the residence had been damaged by what appeared to be a .45 caliber pistol round. The bullet only penetrated one of the two panes of glass resulting in no injuries to the two people who were inside of the residence at the time.

Vermont State Police Log: Logging equipment missing from Ferrisburgh garage

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police last week received a report of the theft of logging chains, load binders and a set of red clamp-on forks from the Ferrisburgh town garage on Little Chicago Road.

The theft is believed to have occurred between Aug. 31 and Sept. 11.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the VSP at 388-4919 or submit an anonymous tip by texting “CRIMES” to keyword “VTIPS.”
