R. MICHAEL WHITE

BRIDPORT — R. Michael White, more often known as “Mike,” passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 at UVM Medical Center surrounded by the love of family. He was predeceased by his father, George Robert White, mother Flora (Hill), sister Patricia (White) Hendricks and son-in-law Paul Saenger.

CHRISTINE RUSS

LEICESTER — Christine Ann Russ, age 71, passed on peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 in her home. Christine was born Oct. 25, 1945 in Proctor, daughter of Robert Breznick and Gloria (Taranovich) Lapointe.

JEFFREY RINGEY

SALISBURY — Jeffrey Ringey, 55, of Salisbury, Vt. passed away on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016. He is survived by his mother Barbara and his children Maggie, Dalton and Brennan. Jeff lived with his long-term companion Dolly in Salisbury, Vt. The family will hold a memorial service near Barbara’s home in Middlebury, Vt. in the summer months. More information to follow.

RICHARD PIERCE

PHOENIX, Ariz. — On Nov. 21, 2016 our beloved Richard Leslie Pierce passed away in the arms of his loving wife, Christine, after enduring pancreatic cancer with grace and courage. Richard was born Oct. 15, 1962, in Long Island, N.Y. He leaves behind his wife Christine; his mother Lynne LeClair and husband Dave; his father, John Hazard; and grandmother, Vivian Hazard; brother and best friend Tim; brother Nathaniel (Chip) and his wife Cutie Sol; his sister Cathy and many loving aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and extended family of his wife Christine.

HENRY PHILLIPS

MONKTON — Henry R. Phillips passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 on the farm.

He was born May 16, 1926 in Lincoln, the son of the late Charles and Mildred (Poland) Phillips.

He leaves behind his wife of 68 years Martha (Roscoe) Phillips; three children, Terry (Starr), Jeff (Olive) and Jackie Fefee; six grandchildren; seven-great grandchildren; and a sister Elaine Roback of Leonardsville, N.Y.

WENDY MITCHELL

VERGENNES — Wendy G. Mitchell, 53, passed away very peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 4, 2016, while at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring, Fla. after a courageous battle with cancer. Wendy was born in Altus, Okla. on Oct. 28, 1963, and was from Vergennes, Vt.

DONALD KINNEY

RIPTON — Donald E. Kinney passed away on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Joan (Lott) Kinney, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage, he was born in Trinidad, Colo., to Oliver Earl Kinney and Opal (Sanger) Kinney. His father was an engineer on the Santa Fe Railroad.

JOHN GEBO JR.

MIDDLEBURY — John E. Gebo Jr. passed away unexpectedly at Porter Hospital Dec. 2, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born Nov. 21, 1940 in Norwich, Conn., the son of the late John E. Sr. and Mary (Scovel) Gebo.

John served in the Navy from 1958-1962 as an aviation electrician. During his time in the service he was involved with the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Bay of Pigs Invasion.

JAMES DUNN

VERGENNES — James Edward Dunn, 74, of Vergennes passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016 at McClure Miller VNA Respite House in Colchester, Vt. with his family at his side.

Jim was born on May 1, 1942 in Chicago, Ill., the son of the late Dr. Richard F. and Louise M. Brough Dunn.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
