BETTY RUTH ST. PIERRE

GEORGIA — Betty Ruth St. Pierre, 72, of Georgia, Vermont, died Aug. 11, 2016, at Bridgewater in Burlington after a short illness. Thank you to all staff. She was born in Colchester, daughter of Edward St. Pierre and Charlotte King.

Betty loved her cat and all animals, especially feeding the birds.

She is survived by her sisters Doris and Beatrice from out of state; as well as several nieces and nephews including a special niece in Bristol.

GAIL REICHSTEIN REX

LINCOLN — Gail Reichstein Rex, 51, of Lincoln, Vermont, passed away suddenly of a brain aneurysm on Wednesday, Aug. 17. She was a beloved wife, mom, daughter, sister, author, healer, acupuncturist and friend. She is survived by her husband, Robert Rex; her son, Orion; her parents, Toby and Ronald Reichstein; her sisters, Melissa Rothstein, Alison Reichstein and Suzanne Davison; and many nieces and nephews who cherish her.

WILLIAM "PETE" HANSEN

BRISTOL — William “Pete” Hansen, a mountain of a man with a heart to match, died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by loved ones on Aug. 22, at the age of 76.

Pete was born on June 2, 1940, the son of the late Adam Hansen and Dorothy (Maxim) Hansen. He is predeceased by a stepmother, Emily (Messier) Hansen.

He was raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, N.Y., and went to school at Fort Hamilton High School. He showed a keen interest and wonderful talent in fixing things, and decided to pursue a career as a plumber.

DORIS CASSIDY & LEE CASSIDY

LINCOLN — Lee and Doris Cassidy, who spent their last few years in St. Albans so as to be close to their families, but whose long-time home was Lincoln, passed away on Aug. 13 and June 23, respectively. Lee was born in Highgate on Sept. 9, 1927, and Doris arrived in St. Albans on Jan. 28, 1930.

ELAINE CLARK PREMO

ROCKLEDGE, Fla./ Alburgh, Vt. — Elaine Clark Premo, 83, of Alburgh and Cocoa, Florida, passed away at Wuesthoff-Brevard Hospice in Rockledge, Florida, on May 20, 2016. Elaine was born on June 24, 1932, in Bristol, the daughter of Ruth and Ernest Clark. (Ernest passed away in 1939 and Ruth, longtime Bristol town clerk, married Earl McCormick in 1943).

HENRIETTA CONNOR

MIDDLEBURY — Henrietta P. Connor (Henri), daughter of Heinrich and Hedwig Petzoldt, was born in 1921 and grew up on a farm in Altenburg, Mo., during the Great Depression. Hard work was a constant in her life. When her mother died prematurely, she had to quit high school to help raise her four younger siblings.

ROLLANDE SHEPARD

STARKSBORO — Rollande (Frenchie) Shepard, 100, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016, at Pillsbury Manor South in South Burlington.

She was born on October 30, 1915 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Joseph and Adele Laframboise Racicot.

She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Hinesburg and Home Den. She loved her family, gardening, cooking and quilting. She was happy and willing to lend anyone a helping hand and she work hard though out her life.

BERNARD MOEYKENS

SHOREHAM — Bernard L. Moeykens, 85, a Vermont Horseman, peacefully passed away at UVM Medical Center surrounded by his family on August 9, 2016.

He was born on his mother’s birthday, May 24, 1931, in Derby, Vermont, son of Lawrence B. and Flossie (Martin) Moeykens.

JULIANNE HOLLAND

MIDDLEBURY — Julianne Holland, 53, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, August 13, surrounded by family and friends. She lived life with integrity, passion and conviction. She will be missed by her family, former clients and dear friends in many circles of fellowship around the world. She is survived by her son Adriano Agudelo; sister Sarah Holland; mother Nina Holland, and father Thomas Holland. A memorial service date has not been set. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to any organization that would be meaningful to you in her memory. Peace.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
