Barbara Eileen Wheeler

NORTH CHITTENDEN — Barbara Eileen Wheeler, 77, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at The Pines of Rutland.

She was born in Chittenden on Aug. 12, 1934. She was the daughter of Clinton and Lilly (Quinn) Wheeler. She was a graduate of Brandon High School, class of 1952.

In her earlier years she worked as a waitress and cook at The Check Mate Restaurant in Hydeville and Somewhere Restaurant in Fair Haven. She was a past member of the Fair Haven United Methodist Church.

Margaret B. Heisler

NEW HAVEN — Margaret B. Heisler, 93, died Sunday, Aug 14, 2011, at her home in New Haven.

Born in Waltham April 9, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Arthur C. and Mary (Ward) Booth.

She was a graduate of Vergennes High School, class of 1936. She was a homemaker and lived in New Haven since 2007, coming from Essex Junction.

She was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church of Essex Junction and the United Methodist Women.

Prudence Tomasi Kelley

BRISTOL — Prudence Tomasi Kelley, 89, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

She was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Montpelier, the daughter of Hugh and Ruth Prescott Lyon.

She was a member of Bristol Federated Church, Bristol Historical Society, and Outlook Club, and she regularly attended the ladies’ gathering at Almost Home. She volunteered at Elderly Services and she was a guide at Shelburne Museum.

Leland “Bonhomme” Provoncha

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Leland “Bonhomme” Provoncha, 81, died peacefully Aug. 13, 2011, at Middlesex Hospital Hospice, Middletown, Conn.

He was born in East Monkton, Vt., in November 1929 and grew up in Monkton. He was one of five children of Pearl (Dow) and Wilfred Provoncha.

His relatives say he liked to socialize and play cards with friends and family. He recently had learned to play bridge and was quite good at it.

Shirley Anne Whitney Juneo

SALISBURY — Shirley Anne Whitney Juneo passed away at her home with her daughter by her side, on Aug. 9, 2011, of complications from cancer, at the age of 75. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willard C. Whitney and the wife of Lt. Col. Robert A. Juneo, who predeceased her on Aug. 19, 2008.

BRANDON — Betty Ann Bertrand, 65, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at her home in Brandon.

She was born in Middlebury on Feb. 6, 1946. She was the daughter of Joseph Lloyd and Nina (Jones) Pelkey. She graduated from Otter Valley Union High School, class of 1963.

Richard Eugene Dutil

BRANDON — The family of Richard Eugene Dutil sorrowfully and joyfully acknowledge his passing, knowing that he is in the arms of our Lord Jesus, on Aug. 5, 2011.

Richard was born on Nov. 1, 1952, in Barre, the son of the late Placide and Blandine (Bedard) Dutil. He was 58 years young at his untimely death, due to an automobile accident. He had just finished having lunch with his wife of 36 years, when he was traveling over the mountain to his business in Bethel.

Laura Jean (Baslow) Foster

LEICESTER — Laura Jean (Baslow) Foster, age 51, died at her residence on Fern Lake in Leicester on Aug. 1, 2011, from complications of COPD.

She was born on July 15, 1960, in Middlebury, a daughter of Cloise R. Baslow and Bernice M. (Cram) Baslow.

She is survived by her two children, Jeremy Foster of Woburn, Mass., and Jessica Rivait, USAF, currently stationed in Afganistan; a granddaughter, Alyssa Foster of Woburn, Mass.; her dad; and two sisters, Claudia (Rose) Eastman of Bristol, N.H., and Cindy L. Kimball of Lincoln.

Angela Duffy Galascione

WILLMINGTON, N.C. — Angela Duffy Galascione died peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Life Care Center in Wilmington, N.C., after a lengthy battle with breast cancer.

She was born in Montclair, N.J., on March 26, 1935, the third of seven children, and grew up in Essex Fells, N.J. She attended parochial and public schools in Montclair and earned a bachelor of science degree from Trinity College in Washington, D.C.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
