Lorillard "Bud" deLancey Jr.

BRANDON — Lorillard “Bud” deLancey Jr., 83, died Saturday, Jan. 22, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

The memorial service “In Celebration of His Life” will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Brandon Congregational Church. The Rev. Richard White, pastor, will officiate.

A private graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, will take place at a later date in the family lot, at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.

Paul Farnsworth

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Paul Alton Farnsworth, 78, of Spartanburg, died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice House in Spartanburg, S.C., in the comfort of his family and friends. Paul was born June 13, 1932, in Randolph, Vt., the son of the late Alton and Vera (Jones) Farnsworth.

A memorial service will be held on Jan. 29, 2011, in Spartanburg. Graveside services in Vermont will take place at a later date in the spring.

Francis "Buddy" Folino

MIDDLEBURY — Francis Robert “Buddy” Folino died peacefully in his family’s embrace at his home in Middlebury on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011.

A gathering of remembrance for friends and family will be held on Sunday, Feb. 13, at 3:30 p.m. at the Lodge at Otter Creek, 350 Lodge Road in Middlebury.

Madeleine Malzac

VERGENNES — Madeleine Malzac (Jan. 3, 1913-Jan. 23, 2011) celebrated this life to the fullest and left to join to her heavenly home just after turning 98. Born in Quebec, Canada, Madeleine moved to the United States at the age of 13 and embraced all the opportunities that life sent her way.

Never one to stay put for long, Mado lived in Chicago, Texas and Vermont and called the Sunshine State of Florida her home for some 60-plus years. During her life she worked in the careers involving fashion, sewing and sales, and always sought to help people.

Duncan Rosborough

MOUNT DESERT, Maine — Duncan Iain Rosborough, 52, died unexpectedly, Jan. 23, 2011, while cross-country skiing in Acadia National Park. He was born Oct. 28, 1958, in Bar Harbor, the son of John Trafton and Lorene C. (Comstock) Rosborough.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 27, at the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth, the Rev. Nick Davis, minister, with the Rev. Dr. Bonnie Rosborough officiating.

A reception will follow for friends and family at the Rosborough residence in Mount Desert.

Ronald O. Aines

NORTHBROOK, Ill. — Ronald O. Aines, formerly of Middlebury, Vt., died Wednesday, Jan. 12, in Illinois of a massive stroke.

A memorial service was held in Illinois on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, but there will also be a memorial service in Rockport, Mass., this summer.

He was born in Rhode Island on April 2, 1928.

Ronald’s parents, Bert and Mabel (Larcom) Aines, made their home on a dairy farm just outside Middlebury, Vt., where Ron learned to fix anything given to him for repair.

Brenda Bertrand

VERGENNES — Brenda Joyce Bertrand, 67, died peacefully at her home in Vergennes on Jan. 17, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 20, at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes, with the funeral services Friday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s.
Burial will be at Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes at a later date at the convenience of the family. The family invites all family and friends to the American Legion for a reception and celebration of her life immediately following the funeral.

Robert Cox

OCEAN ISLE BEACH, N.C. — Robert William Cox, age 79, of Ocean Isle Beach passed away peacefully on Jan. 15.

A Mass celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church in Shallotte. The family will host a reception to receive friends immediately following the service in the Welcoming Room of the church.

BRISTOL — Lucille Gwyneth (Bushey) LaRose, beloved wife and soul partner of Roy E. LaRose and loving mother to David LaRose, Michele (LaRose) Marcotte and Collin LaRose, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a brief illness on Jan. 14, 2011.

Delphine Palmore

BELLOWS FALLS — Delphine Dearborn Palmore, 90, of Bellows Falls, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at her home.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Jan. 18, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Bristol, with burial following in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

She was born May 6, 1920, in Lincoln, the daughter of Noah J. and Leah (Highter) Duclos.
She attended schools in Lincoln.

She worked as a social worker with the elderly for many years and was a volunteer at Proctor Hospital’s Round Robin Gift Shop.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
