Julia Padua

MIDDLEBURY — Julia Padua, 90, of Middlebury died peacefully on May 29, 2010, surrounded by her family.

A graveside service and burial will be held on June 4 at Fairview Cemetery in New Jersey. Memorial contributions may be made in Julie’s honor to a charity of your choice.

Annemarie Gebo

FERRISBURGH — Annemarie Gebo (Annie), 59, of Shellhouse Mountain Road, Ferrisburgh, died peacefully on May 29, 2010 at home where she lived with her husband for the past 33 years. Her family was by her side as she ended her battle with cancer.

A Mass was celebrated Tuesday, June 1, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Vergennes with the Rev. Yvon Royer, pastor, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Peter’s Restoration Fund, 85 Maple Street, Vergennes, VT 05491, or Addison County Home Health and Hospice, Inc., P.O. Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753.

RUTLAND — Mrs. Rita M. Bumps, 88, formerly of Middlebury died early Thursday morning, May 20, 2010, at the Sunset home in Rutland after a brief illness.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday May 24, 2010, at St Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Brian O’Donnell officiating. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

COLCHESTER — Brenda Irene Bristol, 61, of Colchester died peacefully on June 1, 2010, at Fletcher Allen Health Care following a brief illness.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church in Colchester at 3 p.m. Friday, June 4, followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, June 3, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Ready Funeral and Cremation Services, South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington.

Herbert Duncan Rollason III

LEICESTER — Herbert Duncan Rollason III, 59, of Leicester died unexpectedly on Friday, May 21, 2010, at his home on Lake Dunmore.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held in the first week of August, with details to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vermont Chapter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation, the American Diabetes Association or Alcoholics Anonymous.

He was born Nov. 3, 1950, in Amherst, Mass., and graduated from Amherst Regional High School in 1969.

Yvonne M. Gingras

MIDDLEBURY — Yvonne M. Gingras, 83, died in Middlebury on May 23, 2010, with her children at her side.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Mary’s Church of the Assumption in Middlebury on Wednesday, May 26, in celebration of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Helen Porter Rehabilitation and Health Center in Middlebury, Addison County Home Health and Hospice Inc., or St. Mary’s School.

Katherine Mildred "Kitty" Peirce

BRANDON — Katherine Mildred “Kitty” Peirce, 79, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, May 29, at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev. Albert “Skip” Baltz, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiated. A private graveside committal service and burial followed in East Clarendon Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Brandon Area Rescue Squad, PO Box 232, Brandon, VT 05733.

F. Eric Piper

RUTLAND — F. Eric Piper, 30, died Monday, May 24, 2010, at Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland.

The graveside committal service and burial will take place on Tuesday, June 1, at 11 a.m., at the family lot in Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon. The Rev. Deborah Estey, pastor of the Rutland United Methodist Church, will officiate.

There are no public calling hours.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Eric Piper Memorial Fund, c/o Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home, 26 Franklin St., Brandon, VT 05733.

He was born in Middlebury on Sept. 3, 1979. He was the son of Darlene Piper.

Roger Allen

BRISTOL — Roger W. Allen Jr., 50, of Bristol died Monday, May 24, 2010, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

He was born June 23, 1959, in Burlington, the son of Roger and Madeline (Chaloux) Allen Sr.

He was a member of American Legion Post 19 in Bristol and the VFW in Middlebury.

He is survived by seven children, Jennifer, Stephen, Anna, Clayton, Roger III, Jared and Harley; two grandchildren; a brother, Dennis and wife Julie; a sister, Kathy and Doug Carbino; and several nieces and nephews.

MIDDLEBURY — Barbara J. Alden, 91, of Middlebury, passed away peacefully on May 16 in Middlebury.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on June 2, 2010, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 326 College St., in Middlebury, with the Rev. Brian O’Donnell officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s cemetery. Arrangements are by the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, www.sandersonfuneralservice.com.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
