David C. Peryea

MIDDLEBURY — David C. Peryea, 51, of Middlebury died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at Fletcher Allen Health Care after a brief illness.

He was born Feb. 7, 1960, in Burlington, the son of Harold and Jean (Murray) Peryea.

He was a graduate of Middlebury Union High School, class of 1979.

He was employed by Champlain Construction Co. prior to becoming disabled. His family says he enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR and card games.

Kathleen Marie Mitchell

BRANDON — Kathleen Marie Mitchell, age 79, died Nov. 3, 2011, at her home in Brandon.

Mrs. Mitchell was born in Elmont, N.Y., on June 26, 1932. She was the daughter of Fred and Helen (Howkenberger) Weinle. She received her early education in local Elmont schools.

March 15, 1950, she married Gerald “Cooney” Mitchell in Middlebury. They made their home in Brandon where she raised her family. Mr. Mitchell predeceased her June 25, 1991.

Helen Mae Cram

BRANDON — Helen Mae Cram, age 81, died Nov. 3, 2011, at her home in Brandon.

Mrs. Cram was born in Bridport on Feb. 8, 1930. She was the daughter of Charles and Hazel (Peer) Gove. She grew up in Ripton where she received her early education.

Feb. 7, 1946, she married Mahlon Albert Cram. They made their home in Salisbury until moving to Brandon in 1968. Mr. Cram predeceased her on April 9, 2000.

Jill Jackman Wisell

WALTHAM/WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Jill Jackman Wisell of White River Junction died on Aug. 17, 2011, at the VA Hospital in Boston, Mass., after an extended illness.

Faline (Curavoo) Martin

LINCOLN — Faline (Curavoo) Martin, 64, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

She was born Jan. 25, 1947, in Bristol, the daughter of Frank and Maude (Fortune) Mott.

Philip R. LaBossiere Sr.

LINCOLN — Philip R. LaBossiere Sr. of Lincoln, formerly of Palmer, Mass., died Friday Oct. 28, 2011, at his home after a long illness.

He was born Oct. 13, 1934, in Manhattan, N.Y., to parents Romeo and Dorothy LaBossiere.

He worked many years as supervisor of several companies, retiring from Velan Valve in Williston. He was a member of the American Legion in Middlebury. He served in the Massachusetts National Guard.

Julia Collette

FERRISBURGH — Julia Collette, 74, of Ferrisburgh died on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011. She was born July 21, 1937.

She is survived by her husband Edward, three daughters, one son, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son Lawrence.

A spring graveside service will be held.

Emily Louise Bruso

CORNWALL — Emily Louise Bruso, 93, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at Shard Villa in Salisbury.

She was born in New London, N.H. on Aug. 9, 1918. She was the daughter of Herman and Clara (Stetson) Messer.

She grew up in New London and graduated from New London High School, class of 1936. She earned her degree from Colby-Sawyer College, class of 1940.

Lovina Beatrice Baslow

BRISTOL — Lovina Beatrice Baslow, 89, died peacefully at her home in Bristol on Oct. 28, 2011.

It was her request that she remain at home with her husband and her two little dogs during her last days, and this request was carried out.

She was born Nov. 14, 1921, in South Starksboro to Agnes and Ralph Orvis.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
