BONNIE LOU PULSIFER

BRANDON — Bonnie Lou Pulsifer, 60, of Brandon died Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, in Rutland. She was born Aug. 21, 1955, in Burlington.

Survivors include her husband, Allen R. Pulsifer; her mother, Marie Carpenter; children Allen R. Pulsifer Jr., Casey J. Pulsifer, Rose M. Pulsifer and Mary A. Boardman; a brother and sister; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service is on Saturday, Jan 2, 2016, at 1 p.m. at LifeBridge Christian Church, Brandon, with visiting hours from noon to 1 p.m.

WAYLAND BRACE

PANTON — Wayland Brace, 81, passed away Dec. 19, 2015, at his home in Panton with his loving family by his side. Wayland was born on March 14, 1934, son of Lester and Rose (Martel) Brace. Wayland married Debbie Chamberlain on Nov. 8, 1975. Together they just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

Wayland’s passion was working on small engines. He was known by most as a man who could fix anything. Wayland enjoyed volunteering as a driver for ACTR. Wayland always loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoying a cold beer.

JANE MILLER

MIDDLEBURY — Jane Durando Miller, 94, resident of Middlebury, Vt., died on Dec. 10 at Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury after a brief illness. She was born on June 7, 1921, a daughter of Frederick Miller and Margurite Crosby. She was predeceased by her parents and by her brother, Edmund G. Miller.

RUTH TOMASI

BROOKLYN, N.Y./BRISTOL — Ruth Tomasi, 72, of Brooklyn, N.Y., passed away on Dec. 15, 2015, after a short battle with brain cancer. She was born in Burlington on March 21, 1943, and grew up in Bristol, the daughter of James Tomasi and Prudence (Lyon) Tomasi.

DONALD BURCHARD

SALISBURY — Donald Bishop Burchard, 84, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at his home in Salisbury.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

GOTTFRIED CSALA

MIDDLEBURY — Gottfried P. Csala, 92, of Middlebury, died on Saturday, Dec. 5. The cause was congestive heart failure.

Formerly a partner in the firm of Eyerman-Csala-Hapeman & Handman in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Mr. Csala practiced architecture and was responsible for designing many buildings in the region. Best known among them are the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport Terminal Building, the Nanticoke campus of the Luzerne County Community College, the children’s wing addition to the Osterhout Free Libary, and the Marion Sutherland Kirby Library.

SAMUEL FOGEL

MIDDLEBURY — Samuel I. Fogel, 96, the son of a Rabbi and second youngest of seven children, a seeker and most holy heretic, passed into the great beyond at dawn on Dec. 10, 2015 — markedly, International Human Rights Day.

Throughout his life he was driven by a deep-seated concern for humanity’s survival.

DR. ELEANOR YOUNG, PhD

BRANDON — Dr. Eleanor Augusta Young, PhD, age 97, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at the University Of Vermont Medical Center.

Dr. Young was born in Chemung, N.Y., on Dec. 3, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah (Loomis) Culver. She was a graduate of Waverly (N.Y.) high school and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Cornell University and her Masters in French at McGill University. She earned her PhD at Rutgers.

BARBARA GENT

MIDDLEBURY — Barbara Vinal Gent, 93, a resident of Harpswell, Maine, died Thursday morning, Dec. 10, 2015, at the Residence at Otter Creek in Middlebury.

MARION CARTLAND

MIDDLEBURY — Marion R. Cartland, 94, of Middlebury diedTuesdaymorning, Dec. 8, 2015, at Porter Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born May 10, 1921, in Middlebury, the daughter of George and Grace (Richards) Seeley. Marion was a graduate of Middlebury High School class of 1941.

She married Robert Cartland in 1961 at the Middlebury Congregational Church.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
