EVAN LITTLEFIELD

GREENVILLE, R.I. — Dr. Evan B. Littlefield of Greenville, R.I., passed away on June 10, 2015, at the age of 90.

JOHN MAHONEY

MIDDLEBURY — John Leonard Mahoney, 80, of Middlebury, VT, and formerly of Hamilton, MA, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, June 8, 2015, with his wife by his side.

He was born in Boston, MA, on May 21, 1935, the son of the late John and Albina Mahoney. He grew up in Jamaica Plain and Beverly, MA.

He was a 1953 graduate of Beverly High School and attended Bentley College. He served three years in the United States Army, stationed in Kansas and Germany.

ROY MISEK

VERO BEACH, Fla. — Roy Misek, 84, formerly of West Addison, Vt., died Feb. 19, 2015, at Willowbrook Nursing Facility in Vero Beach, Fla.

A memorial service will be held at the West Addison United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 13, at 11 a.m.

JAMES FAY

WESTON, Mass. — James Alan “Jay” Fay, 91, of Weston, Mass., died peacefully on June 2, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Southold, Long Island, N.Y., on Nov. 1, 1923. He grew up in Brooklyn and received his bachelor of science degree from Webb Institute of Naval Architecture in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy as an ensign during World War II.

WILMA PECOR

BRANDON — Wilma U. Pecor, 70, of Brandon died Friday, June 5, 2015, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

She was born in Middlebury on April 27, 1945. She was the daughter of Archie and Ruth (Otis) Pecor. She grew up in Middlebury where she received her early education and graduated from Middlebury Union High School, class of 1963.

MARK PRENNER

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Mark “Moose” Prenner, 81, of San Antonio, Texas, died on June 4, 2015.

He grew up in Middlebury, Vt., the son of Rama and Maurice Prenner. He graduated from Middlebury High School in the class of 1951. He also graduated from the University of Vermont.

Word of his death came to his hometown through his old friend Ray Churchill.

EINAR SWANSON

BRISTOL — Einar E. Swanson, 77, died unexpectedly on Friday June 5, 2015, at his home in Bristol.

He was born in Silver City, Pottawattamie County, Iowa, the son of Einar G. and Edna (Stewart) Swanson.

His formative years were spent in Iowa. His family then moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where he attended Manual Arts High School. After graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps. After his discharge he worked with his brother-in-law, detailing used vehicles. During this time he met and married Norene C. Baslow of Bristol.

MICHAEL BINGHAM

LINCOLN — Michael Jay Bingham, 54, passed away at his home in Lincoln on May 21, 2015.

He was born Sept. 4, 1960, the son of Gordon and Gertrude (Roscoe) Bingham.

He was a carpenter by trade. His relatives say he was a nature lover, bird watcher, gardener, avid hunter and fisherman, a “free spirit.”

He is survived by a son, Joshua; a brother, Robert; and sisters Lynn, Janie and Nancy.

He was predeceased by his father; a sister, Colleen; and a brother, John.

ROBERT BROUILLETTE

VERGENNES — Robert Richard Brouillette, 69, died Thursday, May 28, 2015, at his home in Vergennes.

He was born Oct. 17, 1945, in Rochester, N.Y., the son of the late Richard L. and Shirley A. (Longley) Brouillette.

He was a 1965 graduate of Richford High School. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam with the Dagger Brigade 1st Infantry Division and received his honorable discharge in 1968 with the rank of sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion Post 14 of Vergennes and a life member of the NRA.

BRETT EMILO

MONTOUR FALLS, N.Y. — Brett M. Emilo, 44, of Montour Falls, N.Y., and formerly of Middlebury, Vt., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 29, 2015.

He was born in Burlington, Vt., on Aug. 29, 1970, the son of Louis and Susan Emilo Jr.

He graduated from Middlebury Union High School in 1988 and attended Johnson State and Southern New Hampshire University. On Aug, 25, 2001, he married Kate Farnsworth in Middlebury, Vt.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
