ASHLEY BOYD

MIDDLEBURY — Ashley Sessions Boyd, age 30, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at her home in Middlebury.

Ms. Boyd was born in Middlebury on June 2, 1986. She was the daughter of Holly Nunn and Donald Gebo, Jr. She grew up in Middlebury, where she received her early education and graduated from Mount Abraham High School in Bristol, class of 2004. Afterward she attended Franklin Pierce College.

MARY BOWLBY

MIDDLEBURY — Mary Aline Bowlby, 93, completed her time on earth Aug. 27, 2016, at Helen Porter Health Care in Middlebury.

Mary Aline Bowlby was born in Arkansas. Her family consisted of William and Lavada (King) Parsley and their eight children, including Mary, the youngest member.

While in high school, Mary became known for her basketball skills and was invited by a semi-pro girl’s team to travel with them. She was not able to join them but in later years found joy in grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their sports.

MARJORIE STEPHENSON

MIDDLEBURY — Marjorie A. Stephenson, 88, of Middlebury passed away on Sept., 23, 2016. She was born in Bennington, Vt. to Walter and Mae (Gaudette) Wright on January, 21, 1928.

Marjorie received her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Vermont. She worked as a substitute teacher at Mary Hogan Elementary School.

MONKTON — Beth Ann Pickett, 61, passed away Friday Sept. 23, 2016, at UVM Medical Center with her loving family at her side. Beth Ann was born June 2, 1955, in Claremont, N.H., to Wallace and Marion (Hart) Hentschel.

M. DIANE FORGUES

MIDDLEBURY — M. Diane Forgues passed away quietly at her Middlebury home on Sept. 28, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. She fought a courageous battle with cancer.

Diane was born Feb. 26, 1950, on the family farm in Bridport, the daughter of Leo and Marjorie (Parrott) Forgues.

She attended Bridport Elementary School and graduated from Middlebury Union High School in 1968. Diane was employed by Paul, Frank and Collins in Burlington.

SUSAN FLEMING

VERGENNES — Susan Lee Fleming, 62, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 23, 2016, at the Porter Nursing Home, where she has resided since February. She was born March 2, 1954, and grew up in Morrisville. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to lawn sales, hanging out with other residents and loved her family very much.

Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Leon Fleming, whom she married on May 17, 1980. They moved to Vergennes about two decades ago, and she worked at BF Goodrich.

DOUGLAS A. DICKERSON

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Douglas A. Dickerson, 79, passed away on Sept. 10, 2016 after a long battle with illness. He was born in Lewis, N.Y. on April 11, 1937, the son of Spencer and Gertrude (Clark) Dickerson. He graduated from Westport High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He married Anne Brankman and had five children.

FRED SPENCER

MIDDLEBURY — Fred E. Spencer, Jr., 91, passed away at the Helen Porter Health Care and Rehabilitation facility on Sept. 27, 2016. Fred was born on April 22, 1925 in Bellows Falls, Vt. to Fred and Myrtle (Daggett) Spencer Sr.

During his lifetime, Fred worked for campus security at Dartmouth College until moving to Middlebury in 1968, where he continued his career as the director of security at Middlebury College serving as security chief until his retirement in 1988.

BETH PICKETT

MONKTON — Beth Ann Pickett, 61, passed away Friday Sept. 23, 2016, at UVM Medical Center with her loving family at her side. Beth Ann was born June 2, 1955, in Claremont, N.H., to Wallace and Marion (Hart) Hentschel.

Beth Ann is survived by her husband of 28 years; daughters Jeannine (Kenny) of St. Louis, Mo.; Jennifer Charbonneau (Dennis Barbour); Jillian (Chris) Prushko; and Lacie Pickett. She was a proud granny of grandchildren Seth, Grace, Christian and Bentley. She is also survived by brothers William (Sally) Hentschel and David Hentschel (Bonnie Bullock).

CYNTHIA MCCORMACK

HARWICH, Mass. — Cynthia Brainerd Snow McCormack, age 80, of Harwich, Mass., passed away peacefully on September 21, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. She was the beloved daughter of the late Henry Nicholas and Helen (Farwell) Snow and sister of Charles Henry Snow of Natick, Mass., and the late Faith Ann Snow of Islington, Mass.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
