MARY-ROSE AUDET

BRIDPORT —Mary-Rose Highter Audet, 86, died suddenly surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 12, 2013.

She was born on Oct. 26, 1926, in Middlebury, daughter of Fred and Ella (Burby) Highter.

She graduated from Middlebury High School and later met Norman Audet, her loving husband of nearly 55 years.

They bought Blue Spruce Farm in 1958, where they raised their family, and where their family continues to reside.

THERESA GAUTHIER

OCALA, Fla. — Theresa M. Gauthier, 95, died Nov. 27, 2012, in Ocala, Fla.

She had resided in Whiting, Vt., where she worked on the farm, and Middlebury, Vt., for several years before moving to Florida.

She is survived by a daughter, Rita, living in Ocala, and a son, Roderique, living in Phoenix, Ariz.

She was predeceased by her husband, Isidore, and daughter Lucie.

A funeral service was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury on Saturday, June 15, at 1 p.m.

PAUL LADUKE

BURLINGTON — Paul Kenneth LaDuke, 69, of Burlington died, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Vermont Respite House in Williston.

He was born in Sudbury on Jan. 12, 1944, the son of Kenneth and Marion (Euber) LaDuke. He grew up on the family farm in Sudbury and received his early education in local schools. He later attended the school for the deaf in Rutland.

MARY G. MORSE

MIDDLEBURY — Mary G. Morse, 88, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013, at Helen Porter Health & Rehab Center in Middlebury.

She was born on April 23, 1925, in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada, the only daughter of the late Roland and Louisa (Corcoran) Lacey.

Mary was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting booties for over 55 years.

She was employed for many years as a seamstress at Van Raalte Factory in Middlebury and also sold Avon from 1960 to 1980.

BARBARA J. PRESTON

BRISTOL — Barbara J. Preston, 65, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, at her home in Bristol surrounded by her family.

She was born on Jan. 10, 1948, in Jacksonville, Fla.

Barbara was a member of Real Estate Million Dollar Club in New Orleans, La. She moved here to Bristol in 1999 and she worked at Shaw’s Supermarket at checkout counter where she met a lot of wonderful people.

PAULINE B. SMITH

VERGENNES — Pauline B. Smith, 87, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, at her home in Vergennes.

She was born Jan. 16, 1926, in East Corinth, the daughter of Alphonse and Eva L’Heureux.

She grew up in Vershire and they moved to Shoreham. She married Oliver Smith on April 16, 1967, and they lived in Panton, where they farmed together until 1984. Then she moved to MacDonough Drive in Vergennes, where she lived for the last 29 years. She enjoyed gardening, flower beds, and watching granddaughter, grandson, and her great-grandchildren.

BRANDON/SUMTERVILLE, Fla. — Harry Leonard Forrest, 78, formerly of Brandon, died April 19, 2013, at Lane Purcell Hospice House in Sumterville, Fla.

FOREST DALE — A private graveside committal service and burial for Donald W. Mitchell, 64, son of the late Harold and Betty Mitchell, who died May 29, 2013, at the Gosnell House in Scarborough, Maine, will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Forest Dale Cemetery.

Those wishing to pay their respects to the family may do so, on Wednesday, June 12, from 2-4 p.m. at the home of Pike & Colleen Mitchell in Forest Dale.

MARY “MIMI” FOX

FOREST DALE — Mary “Mimi” Scarlett Fox, formerly of Forest Dale, died at Milford Hospital in Milford, Conn., on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012. She was 84 years old.

Born May 10, 1928, in New Britain, Conn., to George and Julia Cunningham Scarlett, Mimi majored in Education and graduated from Trinity College, Burlington, Vt., in 1949 and began her teaching career at West Rutland High School, then moved to Washington, D.C., where she married her husband, John, in June 1951.

Mimi lived in Washington, D.C., and Lanham, Md., and worked as a fifth-grade mathematics teacher until retiring to Vermont in 1979. Mary was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Brandon and is especially remembered as a devoted mom, loving wife, caring grandparent, and loyal friend.

Survivors include her sister, Margaret DelMastro of Wethersfield, Conn.; her daughters Mary Colleen LaCrosse of Shamokin, Pa., and Sheila Fox of Milford, Conn.; her son, Kevin Fox of Owings Mills, Md.; four granddaughters, Jennifer Gilroy and husband Anthony Gilroy of Indian Head, Md., Valerie LaCrosse and partner Chris Fallat of Kulpmont, Pa., Tina LaCrosse and partner Matt Grosse of Kulpmont, Pa., and Nicole “Peach” LaCrosse of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; her great-grandchildren, Britney Gilroy, Brandon Gilroy, AJ Gilroy, John Gilroy and Lillie Gilroy of Indian Head, Md.; Kasey Paige Seger, Rilynn Fallat and Kyra Grosse of Kulpmont, Pa.; and in-laws Wayne and Bette Fox of Westport, N.Y., June Anderson of Clearwater, Fla., Theresa Fox Cummings of Ashland, Mass., and Patricia Scarlett of New Britain, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Fox, and her daughter Michele Fox; parents George and Julia Scarlett; and brothers George Scarlett, Francis “Red” Scarlett, James Scarlett, and Clarence “Moe” Scarlett.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a memorial Mass for Mimi at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon, Vt., on June 8 at 10 a.m. She will be buried with her husband, John, and daughter Michele in Arlington National Cemetery.

The family extends their appreciation to Deacon Gary and Jeannine Griffin, the Segale Family, Donna Wyman, the Pelletier Family, Jan, Marie Bradbury, and friends and neighbors in Forest Dale for their care and support.

MARILYN HOWELL

PEABODY, Mass. — Marilyn Howell, 73, of Peabody, Mass., formerly of Charlotte, Vt., died March 27, 2013.

The daughter of Archie and Beatrice Armell, she graduated from Vergennes High School. Among the survivors are four local brothers and extended family.

A memorial service will be June 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the North Ferrisburgh Methodist Church.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
