Addison County ‘Makery’ to open doors Nov. 1

MIDDLEBURY — Addison County has a new space for makers, creatives, artists, entrepreneurs and innovators. The Makery at the Hannaford Career Center will debut with a “Meet the Makery” preview Thursday, Nov. 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. The Makery will then be open from 5 to 9 p.m. every Thursday except Thanksgiving Day through the end of the year.
At the preview the community is invited to come and explore this new opportunity to experiment, network, collaborate and create for personal and professional growth.
The Makery will utilize the Hannaford Career Center’s infrastructure to provide the community with a maker space for Addison County. It is a membership-based collaborative that currently offers an engineering lab/3D printing, a building trades lab, and a costume/sewing lab.
As membership and interest grow and new lab space mentors are recruited, additional lab spaces will become available. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult to utilize certain Makery labs.
For more information on The Makery or volunteering to help, contact Len Schmidt at 802-382-1005 or [email protected].
To sign up for Thursday’s preview or a 2018 membership, contact Denise Senesac at 802-382-1004 or [email protected].
Hannaford Career Center is located at 51 Charles Ave. in Middlebury.
