Wedding: Brittany & Ryan

Brittany and Ryan’s lives have been aligned almost their whole lives. Their initial meeting would date back to Evergreen preschool in Vergennes. They then reconnected at Vergennes Union High for middle and high school. Brittany went off to Castleton University and Ryan went to Vermont Technical College. Their lives probably crossed hundreds of times, but it wasn’t until their second year of college that the two recognized the extra-special nature of their friendship.
After college, the pair settled into their first shared home in Ferrisburgh, and brought three dogs into their home: Scout, Violet and Jack.
Being very confident in their relationship by this point, Brittany and Ryan talked frequently about getting married. As do many people in their 20s and 30s, they attended many weddings together and started making notes and plans for their own celebration. Last fall, the couple was planning for the following summer’s events and realized that they only had one other wedding to attend. That was when they decided that the window was right for their big day.
“Let’s go pick out a ring,” Ryan said!
The couple easily selected The Wedding Barn at Champlain Valley Alpacas in Bridport, a classy, yet rustic experience that offered a great place to get ready and a private house for the wedding couple to stay in. The site is decorated with basic but elegant decorations, leaving plenty of room for customization but not so much work that it’s overwhelming to take on.
While they technically only had about 7 months between their engagement and the wedding to pull all of the details together, Brittany said she had been working on planning their big day for years, so the details all came together seamlessly.
When their day arrived in June, the weather was perfect, arrangements had all been made and there was nothing to stress about, Brittany recalls.
“We weren’t nervous or anxious, because why would you be when you are marrying your best friend?”
The most unexpected detail of the day for Brittany and Ryan was during the reception when the speeches were made by the Best Man (Ryan’s brother), and Maids of Honor (Brittany’s sister and best friend).
“While wedding toasts can often be funny, reminiscent, or sentimental; theirs were all three. We will never forget how truly special this moment was, especially being able to bring an entire barn full of people from tears to pure laughter.”
