Brandon’s Route 7 work schedule released

BRANDON — And so it begins in Brandon. With the overflow culvert under Center Street complete, a schedule for the Segment 6-Route 7 reconstruction project in Brandon has been released, and work will begin right in the center of town.
Brandon Town Manager Dave Atherton shared the schedule with the select board at a regular meeting last week.
The project has been broken up into six segments labeled “A” through “F.”
Segment A runs from the Brandon Fire Station to Franklin Street just before the library.
Segment B covers Route 7 from before the library to the bank corner, plus Carver Street, Park Street, Union Street, and Central Park.
Segment C runs from the bank corner near the Congregational Church to Green Park.
Segment D covers the town office building and West Seminary Street to just before the post office.
Segment E runs from the post of office and covers Pearl Street, Champlain Street to the Baptist Church.
Segment F covers Route 7 from the Douglas House and Champlain Farms to the area around Jiffy Mart.
Casella Construction begins mobilization on June 6, which means workers, equipment and signage will start to appear, the staging area will be established and traffic patterns may shift. That phase will last 40 days.
Then on or around Aug. 1, the project will begin with work on Segment B. Work on West Seminary Street Utilities will also begin on Aug. 1.
The Segment B work is projected to last 110 days. It will continue until mid-late November, then cease for the winter months, and resume in late March 2018. Segment B is expected to be completed in mid May 2018.
Then work really ramps up, moving to Segment C from the Congregational Church to Green Park and will last 90 days, ending in mid-September 2018.
Simultaneously, work will also begin on Segment F, from the Baptist Church to the Jiffy Mart. That work will last 100 days and end in early October 2018.
There will be overlap toward the end of those segments with work beginning in late September 2018 on Segment E from the post office to the Baptist Church, and work beginning in early October 2018 on Segment A from the Fire Station to just before the library.
Segment E will last 90 days and end in June 2019.
Segment A will last 110 days and end in July 2019. Work on both Segments A and E will shut down for the winter months and resume in the spring.?In addition, the long-awaited renovation of Bridge 114 at the foot of West Seminary Street is set to begin in mid-July 2019 and last 45 days, ending in September 2019.
Simultaneously, work on the final segment, Segment D from the town office building to just before the post office, will also begin and will run 79 days.
The whole project is expected to be completed in November 2019.
