County youth win firefighter scholarships

ADDISON COUNTY — The Addison County Firefighters Association Scholarship Committee has announced that Courtney Morin, Alyson Gebo, Zachary Gebo, and Delaynah Leavitt were recently chosen to receive scholarships awarded to local students. The scholarships are in the amount on $500 each.
The scholarships were acknowledged in Ferrisburgh on April 19, at the association’s quarterly dinner and meeting. These awards are given annually to children of firefighters, or students who are pursuing a college education in a fire-related field.
Morin is the daughter of Brian and Jennifer Morin of Addison. She is graduating from Vergennes Union High School and will attend Paul Smith’s in New York seeking a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology.
Alyssa Gebo is the daughter of Christopher and Cindy Gebo of Vergennes. After graduating from VUHS, she will attend the University of Vermont in Burlington to pursue a degree in Sociology.
Zachary Gebo is the son of Christopher and Cindy Gebo as well. He is currently attending Castleton University and seeking a degree in Health Science.
Leavitt is the daughter of Dudley Leavitt, Jr. of Lincoln and Mary Dearborn of Bristol. She will graduate from Mount Abraham Union High School and then attend Simmons College in Boston, seeking a degree in Neuroscience and Behavior.
The Ray E. Davidson Scholarship fund was established in 1992. The Addison County Firefighters Association is pleased and proud to be assisting students of Addison County Firefighters with their college education.
