SALISBURY — The dead body of a man was found off Route 53/Lake Dunmore Road in Salisbury on Tuesday, and Vermont State Police said they are looking to see if it is related to an officer-involved shooting in Rutland Tuesday morning.
State police are investigating the Salisbury death as a possible homicide, along with potential links to the subsequent shooting at the Rutland Police Department and the events that transpired afterward in a parking lot off Evelyn Street near the railroad tracks downtown.
Investigators do not believe there is any danger to the public.

ADDISON — An Addison man has been charged with a hate crime, stemming from allegations he deflated the tires of a vehicle belonging to an employee of the organization Migrant Justice and left a voicemail at that nonprofit asking its representatives to stay away from area farms, back in August.
Chase Atkins, 24, of Addison has been cited with misdemeanor disturbing the peace by telephone, with a hate-crime enhancement.

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police are looking into a spate of burglaries at Route 7 businesses this past Friday.
Early on the morning of July 26 troopers at the New Haven barracks received information regarding three burglaries at three stores in Ferrisburgh and New Haven. Someone broke into the Dakin Farms and Auto Creek A.C. Sports businesses in Ferrisburgh and into Cyclewise Inc. off Route 7 in New Haven.
State police said that two cash boxes were reported stolen, though they didn’t specify from which businesses.
