Bristol Police Log for Nov. 5
BRISTOL — On Oct. 7 Bristol police responded to a welfare check on Taylor Avenue and determined that Edward Cushman, 67, had passed away.
Subsequent investigation by police and the medical examiner determined that Cushman had died of natural causes and his death was not suspicious.
Between Sept. 28 and Oct. 18, the Bristol police completed 25 foot patrols and nine car patrols in various parts of town, some of which were part of the Governor’s Highway Safety Program. Officers checked security at Mount Abraham Union High School 16 times, at Bristol Elementary School 13 times, and at local businesses 15 times; completed at least 22 fingerprint requests; and facilitated the return of three lost debit cards, one lost credit card and two loose dogs.
The department also assisted Vermont State Police six times, Bristol Rescue twice and the Bristol Fire Department once.

• On Sept. 29 responded to an alarm and determined it was activated by accident.
• On Sept. 29 helped Bristol Elementary School with a truancy issue.
• On Sept. 29 responded to a two-car crash with property damage and will file a report.
• On Sept. 30 helped neighbors resolve a dispute over trash can use.
• On Sept. 30 served court paperwork on someone.
• On Oct. 2 served court paperwork on someone.
• On Oct. 2 attempted to serve court paperwork on someone who was determined to have moved out of the area, and notified the State’s Attorney’s Office.
• On Oct. 3 responded to a report of youths speeding on motorcycles in the area of Mountain Street, but they were gone before police arrived.
• On Oct. 6 agreed to serve a notice against trespass to someone on behalf of a local business.
• On Oct. 7 responded to a report of erratic vehicle operation but were unable to locate the driver.
• On Oct. 8 advised a resident that their dispute with their neighbor was civil in nature, and provided them with relevant information.
• On Oct. 9 responded to an alarm and determined it was accidentally activated by an employee.
• On Oct. 9 completed a record check request.
• On Oct. 9 investigated a report of a threatening phone call and determined that no action rose to the level of an offense.
• On Oct. 10 responded to a report of water in the highway and contacted the town water department.
• On Oct. 10 began investigating a suspicious complaint.
• On Oct. 11 responded to an alarm and determined it was accidentally activated by an employee.
• On Oct. 12 helped someone find assistance with a civil issue.
• On Oct. 12 checked on activity near a vacant property and found that property owners were in the area moving household items.
• On Oct. 13 began investigating a report of fraud.
• On Oct. 13 responded to a noise complaint but didn’t find anyone upon arrival.
• On Oct. 14 responded to a report of erratic driving but the driver was gone before police arrived.
• On Oct. 14 responded to a report of erratic driving, located the driver and determined that they were not impaired.
• On Oct. 14 responded to a report of a verbal dispute, but it was resolved before police arrived.
• On Oct. 15 responded to a report of an alarm going off and determined that discarded smoke detectors had been activated by sunlight.
• On Oct. 15 began investigating a report of theft.
• On Oct. 15 responded to a parking complaint, and the vehicles were moved.
• On Oct. 16 served court paperwork on someone.
• On Oct. 16 assisted a social service agency.
