ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police are blaming a Bridport man for what appears to be a one-man crime wave between August and November of last year.
After a five-month investigation, Vermont State Police on Jan. 7 announced they had cited Japheth Kehoe, 35, for multiple counts of theft, burglary and fraud.

BRISTOL — Vermont State Police are investigating a burglary that occurred at the Bristol Country Store on Wednesday evening, Jan. 8.
The store is located at 3191 Route 116 South in Bristol, about 4 miles south of the village.
A preliminary assessment suggests that someone broke a side window to gain entry to the store, State Trooper Josh Gurwicz told the Independent. The assailant stole beer, a few cartons of cigarettes and some cash register change — but no cash.
Video footage from the store’s surveillance camera shows the incident occurred at about 9:30 p.m., Gurwicz said.
VERGENNES — Vergennes police on Saturday, Jan. 4, responded to a report of a drunken man at Shaw’s Supermarket and ended up taking him into protective custody when his blood-alcohol content tested at well over four times the legal limit for driving.
According to police, they discovered the man’s BAC was 0.349%; the limit for driving is 0.08. They brought him to the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility for detoxification.

BRISTOL — Between Dec. 16 and Jan. 5, Bristol police completed 22 foot patrols and more than seven hours of car patrols in various parts of town, some of which were part of the Governor’s Highway Safety Program. Officers checked security at Mount Abraham Union High School 17 times, conducted 13 business checks, processed 13 requests for fingerprints, and facilitated the return of two loose dogs.

BRISTOL — Vermont State Police are searching for the person who broke into a gas station and convenience store on Route 116 South in Bristol Wednesday night and stole something.
Police report that the assailant gained entry into the Bristol Country Store at 3191 Route 116 South at around 9:40 p.m. on Jan. 8. Police said the person — wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt with a hood, dark colored gloves, and dark-colored pants and shoes — stole “several store items.”

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Mathew Billings, 36, of Cornwall for aggravated assault following an investigation of a reported knife-wielding man in a Jayne Court apartment on Dec. 30.
Police said no one was injured in the incident. Billings was lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Center for lack of $10,000 bail, according to police.

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police are investigating a Granville house fire that killed a 37-year-old Granville man in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police said that Nathan Twitchell succumbed due to smoke inhalation, and they ruled the death an accident. As of Tuesday they had not determined the cause of the fire but it was not suspicious.

EAST MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police are searching for an armed bandit who fired his gun — twice — while robbing Mac’s Convenience Store in East Middlebury on Monday night.
At about 10 minutes before 9 p.m. on Jan. 6, a man wearing a green coat, gloves, and dark-colored pants and shoes entered Mac’s displaying a handgun and discharged a round into the floor, according to Middlebury Police Sgt. VERGENNES — Vergennes police are investigating two Dec. 27 incidents of thefts at the same Main Street apartment.
Police said a woman reported that personal financial and identification materials and medications were stolen from a car that she briefly left running outside her home.
