THIS PAST SATURDAY afternoon a small impromptu parade of about a dozen tractors — some pulling wagons — made its way through downtown Middlebury. Dennis Benoit of Addison had organized the processions, which drove a couple loops around the Helen Porter Rehabilitation & Nursing home on South Street. Benoit said he often leads such parades and they hadn’t had one for awhile because of COVID-19, but he just felt it was time. They all stayed at least 6 feet apart. Phyllis Bowdish, who took part in Saturday’s parade, said she and the group will hold their annual parade of slow antique tractors on June 14. They will start at her farm on Lemon Fair Road in Weybridge and head past EastView and the Residence in Middlebury.
