ADDISON COUNTY — In high school field hockey play late last week Middlebury picked up its first win, Mount Abraham earned a road tie, and Otter Valley dropped a game to a fellow Division II contender.

On Saturday the Tigers blanked visiting U-32, 4-0, to improve to 1-5. Maeve Hammel’s hat trick sparked the Tigers. Phoebe Smith also scored, Aby LaRock set up two goals, and Olivia Audet had one assist. Tiger goalie Ileigh Aube worked a four-save shutout, while Abigail Latour made 15 saves for U32 (2-5).
EAGLES
On Friday the Eagles (5-0-2) remained unbeaten by tying host Champlain Valley, 2-2, on a late Molly Laurent goal set up by Ava Konczal. Konczal also scored in the first half. Eagle goalie Chessley Jackman made 18 saves against the D-I Redhawks to help her team stay in first place in D-II.
OTTERS
In a Wednesday D-II battle Woodstock won at OV, 2-1. Brittney Jackson used a Riley Keith assist to give OV a second-half lead, but the Wasps prevailed on goals by Kelly Gebhardt and Allie Cimis. OV goalie Ellie Ross’s 12 saves included one on a penalty stroke. Wasp goalie Maggie Parker made eight saves for the 5-2-2 Wasps as they avenged a loss to OV.
