Holiday bazaar to be held at Middlebury Congregational Church on Saturday

MIDDLEBURY — The Congregational Church of Middlebury will hold its 93rd annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
For nearly a century the lower level of the church building has served as the sole and sometimes overcrowded site of past Holiday Bazaars. With the recently completed 8,000 square foot addition to the church building doubling the space available, organizers have an extra measure of enthusiasm in its planning and preparation.
The popular “Attic Treasures” room will be expanded and re-located to a spacious room in the new building. Next to it, a new “Finer Things” room will be filled with a wide array of unique offerings, including handicrafts, home furnishings, and collectibles.
Other displays will be set up in Unity Hall:
•  Handmade articles of clothing, aprons, totes, wall hangings, pillows and more for both children and adults.
•  A jewelry and scarves table, introduced in 2015 and quite a hit.
•  A wood crafts table with a variety of handcrafted items and restored to like-new vintage toys, parquet patterned cutting boards, quilt racks and holiday theme centerpieces.
•  Food tables, with a variety of fresh, homemade cakes, pies, cookies, breads and canned goods offered for sale.
•  A bazaar luncheon, offering snacks and a lunch of hearty homemade soups, sandwiches, beverages, and slices of delicious pies. Also “soups to go” offerings, for a future ready-to-serve meal.
•  A gardening center, featuring indoor and outdoor plants, bulbs, seeds and other gardening related items.
And of course, Santa will be on hand from 10 a.m. to noon. Folks of all ages are  welcome to come and have their pictures taken with him next to the decorated Christmas tree.
Proceeds from the Holiday Bazaar  will help support such local outreach efforts such as the Charter House Coalition community lunches and suppers and the winter emergency shelter programs.
