Lincoln news for Oct. 18

LINCOLN — Incumbent senator Chris Bray will speak on the topic “Vermont’s Brightest Future: Clean Energy, Clean Water, Healthy Foods” on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. at the library. Everyone is welcome. Bring your questions.
Join Betsy Graziadei for an after school craft of Halloween Art Making on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 3:15-4:30 p.m. at the library. This craft session is for ages 5 and up. Materials will be provided. Please sign up at the library.
BRIDGES of Lincoln presents: “All the President’s Men” on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. at the library. The film is a 1976 American political thriller about the Watergate scandal, which brought down the presidency of Richard M. Nixon. It is based on the 1974 non-fiction book of the same name by Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, the two journalists investigating the Watergate scandal for The Washington Post. The film stars Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman as Woodward and Bernstein, respectively.
The doors of the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 27, for the 5-town food drive to benefit the Have-A-Heart Food Shelf. Jacob and I, along with members of the LVFD will be on hand to accept donations of canned and boxed goods, fruits, vegetables, holiday items, paper products, and toiletries. Cash/check donations are greatly welcomed and appreciated.
The Have-A-Heart program provides assistance to our neighbors in each of the five towns throughout the year. This food drive has been a major boost that enables them to replenish the shelves prior to the upcoming winter months, when the cost of fuel and related expenses results in a greater demand from those seeking help from this program.
Join your neighbors in helping to fill the firehouse. Stop by the firehouse with your donation, check out the fire trucks, talk with a volunteer firefighter and help make a difference in our community.
SAVE THE DATE: The Library’s Election Day Soup & Bake Sale will be Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the town office. Bakers interested in donating goods should contact Ruth Shepherd at 802-453-4786.
Until next time … Be Good. Be Happy. Be Yourself.
