MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police investigated a reported domestic disturbance in the South Street Extension area on May 27.
A witness reported hearing people crying and screeching tires. Police interviewed a woman connected with the incident who said she had had a verbal argument with her boyfriend.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
•  Assisted Middlebury firefighters with an alarm at the TJ Maxx store off Court Street Extension on May 22.
•  Attempted to locate a motorcycle driver who had allegedly been driving erratically on Cross Street on May 23.
•  Were informed of the theft of a package that had been placed on a Weybridge Street resident’s porch on May 23.
•  Resolved a truancy complaint at Middlebury Union High School on May 23.
•  Responded to a noise complaint on North Pleasant Street on May 23.
•  Notified the Middlebury Public Works Department about a water main break on Industrial Avenue on May 24.
•  Helped Bristol police with a patient of interest at Porter Hospital on May 24.
•  Searched in vain for a reported drunken driver allegedly seen traveling on Exchange Street in the wrong direction for the lane he/she was in on May 24.
•  Helped Middlebury College Public Safety officials with a drunken non-student who was being uncooperative on May 25.
•  Investigated a report about unsupervised children allegedly running around the Marble Works complex on May 26. Police said they found no such activity at the site.
•  Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS with a suicidal person on Court Street on May 26.
•  Were called to Porter Hospital on May 26 on a report of a woman refusing to leave the lobby. Police were able to convince the woman to leave without incident.
•  Checked on the welfare of a South Pleasant Street man who had allegedly told his estranged wife that he was going to harm himself on May 26. Police located the man and made sure he was OK.
•  Were informed that two veterans’ plaques were missing from Main Street location on May 27.
•  Received information on May 27 about a purported sexual offense that had allegedly occurred in Middlebury “several years ago,” according to police.
•  Received a report on May 27 about the alleged theft of a vehicle from Old Chapel Road on Middlebury College campus. Police said the vehicle was located in a different parking lot.
•  Responded to a noise complaint at a Buttolph Drive home on May 28. Police said the neighbor in question agreed to turn down his television.
•  Helped Bristol police in their search for a person in Middlebury on May 28.
•  Received a report on May 28 about a potentially intoxicated youth who had refused to show Middlebury College officials his ID in the South Main Street area and had run away.
•  Investigated a report of a suspicious man at the Middlebury Methodist Church on North Pleasant Street on May 29. Police said the man had left upon their arrival.
•  Responded to a two-vehicle crash, resulting in a minor injury, on Route 125 west of town on May 29. Police said a man had been working on his truck at the side of the road when it was struck by a car. Since the accident had occurred in Cornwall, Middlebury police stood buy until Vermont State Police arrived to take control of the investigation.
