Leicester man faces felony gun charge

MIDDLEBURY — A Leicester man faces multiple charges — including possession of a dangerous weapon in the commission of a felony — after he allegedly fired at a vehicle parked at Middlebury’s Briarwood Apartments back on April 20, shortly after midnight.

No one was hurt in that incident, according to police.

In addition to the weapons citation, Middlebury police on June 16 said they cited Scott D. Lanpher, 21, for aggravated disorderly conduct, felony unlawful mischief, providing false information to a police officer, driving with a criminally suspended license, making noise in the nighttime and a illegal possession or use of fireworks.

It was at 12:51 a.m. on April 20 that officers responded to 210 Valley View Drive on a report of possible gunshots and a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Upon their arrival, police found that an unoccupied vehicle parked in from of the Briarwood  Apartments had been shot multiple times.

Police said their investigation led to Lanpher, who is slated to answer to the charges in Addison County Superior Court, criminal division, on Aug. 2.
