Brandon hosts community celebration, Sep. 25-26

BRANDON — The Brandon Area Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Brandon Alliance and other town entities are putting on a town-wide event that celebrates Brandon this Friday, Sept. 25 and Saturday, Sept. 26. The goal is to create excitement over the weekend and showcase Brandon’s newly finished downtown.
Events planned include music in the parks, town historical tours and talks, past and present photo displays of the town, artwork, movies and more.
“The Chamber and the DBA want to attract visitors from near and far to shop, walk, eat, drink and be merry,” said Chamber Executive Director Bernie Carr,” as well as “to listen to music, and see what we all have accomplished — a beautiful, new, walkable, drivable, vibrant downtown.”
Fireworks will be launched from a downtown Brandon location so as to be visible to everyone in town without having to amass a large group of people at Estabrook Park, which would violate COVID-19 social distancing restrictions.
Masks will be required, and there will be ample spacing between booths, limits on the number of people inside a venue at any one time, and plenty of hand sanitizer stations provided by the Chamber.
