BRISTOL — The League of Women Voters this month is giving Bristol residents a chance to meet candidates for the Bristol selectboard and ask them questions.

On Friday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m., the organization will host “Meet the Candidates, a Bristol Selectboard Candidate Forum” in the meeting room at the Bristol Fire Station on West Street. Bristol Justice of the Peace Anne Wallace will moderate.

At the forum will be two candidates for a two-year seat, Darla Senecal and Bill Mount, along with incumbent Michelle Perlee, who is running for a three-year seat. The candidates will answer previously prepared questions as well as questions from the audience. There will be light refreshments. The forum will be featured on NEAT TV.

Forum attendees will be able to pick up sample ballots for the selectboard election, the Mount Abraham Unified School District budget, the Bristol Police District budget, the Patricia A. Hannaford Regional Technical School District budget, and for the Democratic and Republican Presidential primaries. Bristol’s 2019 Town Report will also be available.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages the informed and active participation in government. According to Sarah Stott, co-chair with Debbie Ramsdell, of the Candidate Forum, “One of the most important actions we as citizens in a democratic country can take is to choose the best leaders for our communities and country. But in order to do that, we must be informed. This forum will enable Bristol residents to meet the selectboard candidates and hear each one explain why they are best suited for the position.”
