City work to focus on sidewalks next week
VERGENNES — Drivers through downtown Vergennes and along West Main Street near the city center can expect delays during the week of July 6 through 10 as workers pour and prep sidewalk and pedestrian bulb-outs in the area.
According to a Thursday morning Agency of Transportation (VTrans) update on the major Vergennes paving project, plans call for work on pedestrian safety and traffic-calming bulb-outs at Main Street’s intersections with Green Street and Monkton Road.
Sidewalk prep work will run west from the city center and should reach across the bridge to West Main Street, according to VTrans.
Workers will be pouring concrete for sections of downtown sidewalk that have already been prepped, according to the press release. They should also begin to install new signs on Thursday, July 9.
Hours of the work will run from roughly 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and drivers should expect delays and one-way traffic guided by flaggers during those hours.
No work will be done this Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day.
