A crash in Starksboro kills two
STARKSBORO — A Hinesburg man will answer to charges of driving under the influence of drugs in connection with a collision between his truck and an ATV on Route 116 in Starksboro that resulted in the deaths of two people Friday night.
Vermont State Police said 20-year-old Bayly LaRock was driving a 2016 Chevrolet truck north on Route 116 at around 10:18 p.m. when he collided with an ATV that had just pulled onto the road from Freedom Acres. The Honda ATV was being driven by Tracy Bedell, 21, of Starksboro, with a passenger identified as Robert Lowell, 18, of Huntington.
Police said LaRock was unable to stop and struck the driver’s side of the ATV. Bedell and Lowell — neither of whom were wearing helmets, according to authorities — were taken to University of Vermont Medical Center where they both succumbed to their injuries, police said.
LaRock is scheduled to answer to the DUI drugs citation in Addison County Superior Court, criminal division, on Sept. 21, police said. This case is still under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact VSP Trooper Sarah Ovchinnikoff at 388-4919.
