Hancock officials assess coronavirus relief funding

HANCOCK — The Hancock Selectboard met this past week, during which Richard Andrews reported that he will not be bidding on the mowing contract in the fall. He also said that a sign noting weight restrictions still remains at the end of Tunnel Brick Road.

But the big discussion of the meeting was the excessive speeding rates of large trucks on Route 125. According to minutes of the meeting, no resolution was reached.

The board also discussed which grant funds were available to the Town of Hancock through the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funding (CLFRF), which are necessary for the board to accept grant funds.

A motion for the town to accept its allocation of Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funding (CLFRF) from the U.S. Treasury passed. The board appointed Dan Perena as the contact person for the Town’s CLRFR Award to help allocate and monitor the money.

The board also approved a motion to add the adoption of the tax rate to the agenda, and then passed a motion to approve the tax rate for the Town of Hancock. The total 2021-2022 tax rate is: homestead rate, $2.34; non-homestead rate, $2.34; and local agreement veteran exemption, $.0.0027.
