Kids get the scoop on birds and bees

BURLINGTON — Animal Scoops, a virtual learning opportunity offered through the University of Vermont Extension 4-H program, will help introduce kids to the birds and the bees as well as a number of other species.

The one-hour sessions will be offered bi-weekly on Wednesdays from 9-10 a.m. from Sept. 23 to Nov. 18. Although geared to younger students, anyone aged 8-18 may sign up for any or all sessions. Enrollment in 4-H is not necessary to participate.

To register go to go.uvm.edu/ animal-scoops-reg. Although free, pre-registration is required by the day prior to each session in order to receive the link for the Zoom program.

Sessions will be taught by UVM Extension 4-H educators and include a number of fun activities such as videos, book recommendations, trivia, recipes and hands-on exercises. Dates and topics are September 23 (bees), October 7 (llamas and alpacas), October 21 (white-tailed deer), November 4 (wild geese) and November 18 (turkeys).

To request a disability-related accommodation to participate, please contact UVM Extension 4-H livestock educator Wendy Sorrell at wendy.sorrell@uvm.edu or (802) 651-8343, ext. 513.
