Lincoln news for Apr. 8

LINCOLN — Now that the snow is melting and the spring weather is here, please be on the lookout for children walking and riding bikes to and from school. The Lincoln Community School has a lot of children riding bikes and walking to school from 7:30 to 8 a.m. They ride and walk home from 3:15 to 3:30 p.m. Please use caution. Thank you!

FROM THE TOWN CLERK

It’s mud season! Many dirt roads are turning to mush, soup, and slop. If you do not live on one of these roadways, please help by driving around on paved surfaces instead. The people who must use these dirt roads to get home will appreciate it, and so will the road crew. If you must travel on dirt roads, early morning conditions are usually more firm. Once the frost comes out of the ground, things will hopefully dry up and get back to normal in a few weeks. We appreciate your patience and assistance.

Stop by the library and check out the two new displays in the community room. There are photographs documenting how community members have been adapting during the past year. Since this is maple sugaring season, there is also a display featuring all the tools of the trade in making maple sugar.

Green Up Day is Saturday, May 1. We will be doing roadside cleanup this year. Volunteers must cleanup with members of your household or pod only. We will also be having our volunteer appreciation raffle and kids only raffle. We won’t be gathering this year to announce the winners, so winners will be notified by email or phone. The volunteer appreciation lunch will be takeout only. Masks must be worn when picking up bags and dropping off trash. The time is still being worked out, but it will probably be our usual 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Please email me at dawnyanks@gmail.com with what road you would like to clean up and how many people in your pod/household will be participating. Thank you for helping to keep our community looking beautiful. More details to follow.

Until next time ... Bring The Joy. Show The Love. Be Grateful.
