LINCOLN — Some Lincoln Community School students visited the Lincoln Town Office one day last week. The students appeared with enthusiasm, quickly distributed “Kindness Rocks” all around the office (both inside and out), and then continued on their way to spread more positive energy around town, Town Clerk Sally Ober tells us.
“All day long I have been finding rocks in unexpected places, and each time it makes me smile to see one,” Ober said. “Even though I knew these students were here, it feels like they performed a clever magic trick by tucking them into places where I have been surprised to find them. I just found one on the bracket where we hang our flag outside.”
The “Kindness Rocks” are colorfully painted with positive messages, and when you read them you feel happy. Pictures show the children dropping off Kindness Rocks at the Lincoln Library, Lincoln General Store and Lincoln United Church, as well.
“I am grateful to the young people in our community whose goal it is to spread love,” Ober said. “I hope visitors will pause to notice these kind messages, and that you may share the feeling of warmth I have been holding all day.”
When all of this snow melts in the spring, there is a trail of kindness rocks behind the Lincoln Community School in Potato Hill Park. It is open to all, and Sally recommends walking along the trail by the river and reading their words.
