Local couple shares stories from their walk across Switzerland

LYNN LUGINBUHL AND Morris Earle pause for a photo in front of Moiry Galcier in Switzerland. At an Oct. 24 talk in Middlebury, they will share stories and photos from a 300 mile Alpine hike.

MIDDLEBURY — The Green Mountain Club Bread Loaf section will host a special fall program Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Champlain Valley Unitarian Universalist Society, 2 Duane Court in Middlebury

In “Walking Across Switzerland: The Haute Route and the Via Alpina,” the club’s vice president and local resident Morris Earle and his wife Lynn Luginbuhl will  share their experiences from their recent trip across Switzerland. The program will feature their photos and accounts of hiking 300 miles across the Alps.

Earle and Luginbuhl spend most of their free time in the mountains and have been trail adopters since 2011 on the Middlebury Gap north section of the Long Trail. When Earle is not hiking, he works as a pediatric intensive care doctor in Massachusetts, and with Doctors Without Borders internationally.

The program is open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free, and voluntary donations will be accepted. All donations support the Green Mountain Club. Accessible parking and nearby parking is available at Middlebury Union High School. Find more information about the Bread Loaf Section and its activities on their website at gmcbreadloaf.org.
