Monkton news for Oct. 24

MONKTON — On Thursday, Oct, 24, the Russell Memorial Library will host ‘Book Share’ at 6:30 p.m. Attendees will gather to share a book with the group that was enjoyable, exciting, moving, inspiring or in some way compelling enough to share with other readers. You are invited to bring your own book or use one from the library that you have read. Light refreshments will be shared.  All are welcome!

On Saturday, Oct. 26, the library is featuring a fun hour of Halloween Story Time from 10 to 11 a.m. There will be stories and songs along with simple crafts.  Wear a costume if you want but they are not essential. Come and join in for a good time.

It’s Trick or Treat at the Library.  From 5 to 6:30 p.m. the library’s annual tradition continues. Children who come in costumes will be able to pick out a free book and receive a candy treat. Come in and join the librarians for the fun of seeing all of the amazing and creative costumes.  All are welcome. For more information, contact the library at 453-4471. If no answer, please leave a message with your name and number and someone will get back to you.

The Monkton Friends Methodist Church will once again host a ‘Trunk or Treat’ on Halloween, Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The church community space will be open for participants to get warm beverages and treats. Halloween activities will be offered also. Bathroom facilities will also be available. Townsfolk who would like to add their car or truck to the “treat circle” in the church parking lot are asked to let Teri and Ralph Fitz-Gerald know so that they can plan enough space for everyone. You can contact them at 453-4918.  Bring the kids over to enjoy this fun and safe celebration.
