Take part in the Messiah Sing, Dec. 22
MIDDLEBURY — Every year friends and neighbors travel to downtown Middlebury to participate in the Messiah Sing, sponsored by the College Community Chorus and led by its conductor, Jeff Rehbach. The tradition continues this year starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 22, at the Middlebury Congregational Church.
In addition to singing and playing many of the choruses for Handel’s “Messiah” (including the “Hallelujah Chorus”), several arias from the work are sung by singers from the local community and from across the state. Each year, the reading features a harpsichord made by Robert Hicks of Lincoln, Vt.
Music scores are provided (or bring your own) for singers; if you play a string instrument, flute, oboe, or bassoon, orchestra parts are also available at the reading. Donations requested at the door ($5-10 adult / $10-20 family). The Middlebury Community Chorus will provide refreshments.
The annual Messiah Sing has been a Middlebury holiday tradition since 1984.
