Vergennes paving starts Wednesday

VERGENNES — Paving work will restart in Vergennes on Wednesday on Green Street, according to the Vermont Agency of Transportation.
A J. Hutchins Inc. crew will mill the existing asphalt surface on Green Street, starting near its intersection with Church Street, and work toward its downtown intersection with Main Street, VTrans announced on Tuesday.
The work is expected to take two or three days, and Green Street will be limited to one lane during the milling, with flaggers controlling the flow of traffic.
According to VTrans, the agency and the contractor received permission from city officials to work during the day through June 1, a period during which businesses are open on a limited basis.
A VTrans press release sent out on Tuesday afternoon said the agency would issue another update later this week about a project that has as its main component the resurfacing of the 2.189-mile length of Route 22A/Main Street through all of Vergennes. Green Street between Main Street and Route 7 will also be paved.
