Harrie Scott DeMers Sr., 82, formerly of Leicester


HARRIE SCOTT DEMERS SR.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark., — Harrie Scott DeMers Sr., formerly of Leicester, Vt., died July 14, 2021. Harrie was born Dec. 11, 1938, in New Britain, Conn. He was the son of Leon A. DeMers Sr. and Viola (Burbidge) DeMers. He grew up in Osterville, Mass., where he received his early education.

He came to Vermont in 1964, moving from Ashby, Mass. He was a dairy farmer and then a long haul truck driver. He was a proud and active member of the F&A Masons for 53 years. He was also a member of Cairo Shriners and Cairo Clown Unit, Scottish Rite, Moose Lodge, Order of Eastern Star and National Sojourners.

Surviving is his wife of 11 years, Margaret (Maggie) DeMers; two daughters, Catherine Wall (Donnie) of Sudbury and Debra Taylor (Rod Cyr) of New Haven; two sons, H. Scott DeMers Jr. (Suzanne) and Christopher DeMers (Edna) both of Mountain Home, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021, at 1 p.m., at New Haven Congregational Church.◊
