James Earl Warner, 68, East Middlebury

SHIRLEY B. WARNER

EAST MIDDLEBURY — James Earl Warner, 68, of East Middlebury, died on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020, following a cardiac event. He was born in Middlebury on Dec. 10, 1951. Jim was predeceased by his parents Earl J. Warner and Shirley B. (Desjadon) Warner.
Jim was surrounded by his seven siblings: Gary (Pat), Richard (Louise), William, Susan (David), Carol, Joyce, and Ronald (Marie). He has two sons: Sean (Betsy) Tremblay and Rob-Bob (Robert) Stevenson, and one granddaughter, Lydia. Jim also enjoyed spending time with his many nieces and nephews.
Jim grew up and lived much of his life in the Middlebury area. He became a double amputee many years ago due to a chronic condition. In spite of his missing legs he was able to remain mobile and was frequently seen around the East Middlebury area — you always knew he was making his rounds when you saw the orange flag on his wheelchair coming. He was always up to have a chat and has many friends and acquaintances in the area.
Jim helped family and friends with many projects and would lend a hand wherever he could. He maintained a lawnmower, which he could be seen using on any sunny day — he was meticulous with his cuts! He also maintained his own vehicle, including installing hand controls, and spent time searching the area for parts.
Jim had a love for fishing and hunting. He spent many hours searching for the elusive white tail deer. As fall approached, he would spend many hours sitting in his car watching, planning, and waiting for the season to begin. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion and spent many Fridays at the Legion planning and preparing for the fish fry dinner for all to enjoy. For many years Jim was a volunteer fireman with the East Middlebury Fire Department.
One of his proudest accomplishments is the rekindled relationship with his sons, Sean and family and Rob-Bob. Jim took great joy in getting together with them and passing time doing family things.
A celebration of life for James and his mother Shirley (who died March 29, 2020) will be announced when the pandemic allows gatherings to begin.◊
