VIVIAN A. (PECOR) AUSTIN

Bristol — Vivian A. (Pecor) Austin, 96, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021, while in assisted care by her daughter Robin.

She was born Dec. 25, 1924, in Bristol, Vt., the daughter of Vern and Josephine (Munroe) Pecor. Vivian attended Bristol High School and graduated in June 1943.

She resided at 23 Austin Dr., Bristol, with her pre-deceased husband Richard J. Austin of 66 years. Vivian is also predeceased by her sister, Katherine (Pecor) Rockwell, and a great grandson, Jacob Gorton.

Vivian loved gardening. She always had pots and pots of petunias, pansies, and a beautiful strawberry bed. Vivian hosted many family reunions and entertained family members playing her fiddle.

She worked side by side with her contractor/carpenter husband in later years while building rentals and could paint as well as any man. Vivian vacationed many times with her husband to the Deep South and enjoyed the history and ambience.

Vivian is survived by her daughters, Roxanne (Austin) Smith and Robin (Austin) Gorton, both of Bristol; her sons Richard Austin II and wife Penny Austin of Vergennes, Vt., and Jack Austin and wife Carol Austin of Bristol; 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Vergennes. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Vergennes.
