VERGENNES — Roger Alan Freegard, 70, died Tuesday evening Feb. 4, 2020, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington after a brief illness.
He was born July 3, 1949, in Vergennes, the son of Charles and Sarah (Jerome) Freegard.
Roger was a graduate of Vergennes High School class of 1968.
He married Joan Sweet on January 4, 1969, in Vergennes.
Roger was a dairy farmer and school bus driver for many years in Vergennes.
He enjoyed socializing, reading and spending time with his grandchildren.

MIDDLEBURY — Richard Edward Deegan, known to family and friends as Dick, passed on Jan. 31, 2020, at the age of 74. He is the son of Genevieve Cox Deegan and Edward James Deegan and the stepson of Agnes Cox Deegan.
Dick grew up in Woodbridge, Conn., where he graduated from Amity Regional High School. He earned of Bachelor of Science degree for Northeastern University and an M.B.A. from the University of Detroit. His professional career was spent in Human Resources at Ford Motor Company, where he was a supervisor of personnel.

WALTHAM — Kevin J. Draper passed away suddenly on the afternoon of Jan. 30, 2020. Kevin was born on Sept. 6, 1954, the son of Edward and Helen Draper. He lived the first years of his life in Richford, Vt. The entire family moved to Middlebury, Vt., in the summer of 1960. Kevin graduated from Middlebury Union High School in 1972, and immediately joined the Navy. He always liked to cook, and he became a Navy cook. He enjoyed his years in the Navy as it gave him the opportunity to explore parts of the world he had only read about.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Richard “Dick” James Page, husband of Marie Burke Page, passed away peacefully in Charlotte, N.C., on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, in his 76th year. The son of Robert and Julia (Weaver) Page, Dick was born in Lynn, Mass., and raised with his sister and two brothers in Bristol, Vt. Dick is mourned by wife Marie.

VERGENNES — Claire Eleanor Rivers, 73, of Vergennes died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at EastView at Middlebury. She was born Aug. 31, 1946, in Ferrisburgh to Bertha (Briggs) and James Rivers.
A life-long Addison County resident, Claire worked at Simmonds Precision, Pete Hansen Plumbing & Heating, and B.F. Goodrich.
She is survived by her stepson William Hansen and his wife Genevieve Hansen of Roxbury, Vt., and brother Jim Rivers of Florida and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her twin sister Margaret Stanton and her sister Mary Benoit.

VERGENNES — Wayne E. Barrows, 74, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at Rutland Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 18, 1945, in East Middlebury, the son of Rex and Vera Manning Barrows.
He was a member of Vermont Tractor Pullers, Odd Fellows, and Assembly of God Christian Center. He loved working at his son’s lawncare business and gardening.
His hobbies were playing cards, fishing, tractor pulling, running the scale at Field Days and being president of the activity committee at his nursing home. His infectious laugh will be missed.
