FLETCHER — Larry Wayne Hill, 73, passed away at his home on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Burlington on May 25, 1946, to the late Wayne C. and Beatrice (Besaw) Hill. Larry married the former Phyllis LaFountain on Aug. 22, 1970. He worked on the family farm in Starksboro, delivered newspapers for the Burlington Free Press and eventually at TD Bank. BRISTOL — Richard Ketchledge, 63, of Bristol, died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, in his home. He was born Jan. 22, 1956, in Palmer, Mass., the son of Edward Ketchledge Sr. and Clara Rossi. After high school he worked in various jobs, including landscaping, cooking and carpentry. LEICESTER — Harold Robert Nicklaw, age 82, died Sunday Nov. 10, 2019, at Rutland Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Nicklaw was born in Leicester, on Aug. 6, 1937. He was the son of Russell and Hazel (Tyler) Nicklaw. He grew up on the family farm in Leicester. He has been a Leicester resident all his life. BRISTOL — George Edward Smith, lifelong Bristol resident, passed away 2019, at UVM Medical Center in Burlington at the age of 93. He was born in Bristol on May 26, 1926, to Edward and Grace (Lane) Smith. Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II. On Feb. 16, 1947, he married Doris “Dot” D’Avignon. They were married 55 years when she died of cancer in 2002. George’s love of trains stemmed from his work for the Rutland Railroad for many years. EAST MIDDLEBURY — Roy E. Wilkinson died on Nov. 3, 2019. Roy was born on Oct. 11, 1924, in Rutland Town, where he grew up, the son of Benjamin H. and Ella Peters Wilkinson. In his younger years he worked various occupations, which included logging, ice delivery, a scale company and lumber mill. While working for Crystal Ice Company he delivered ice to Kehoe’s Diner, where he met his future wife. In April of 1944 Roy joined the United States Marine Corps. SHELBURNE — Bernard Paul Boudreau, 64, passed away peacefully Nov. 1, 2019, in Shelburne, Vt., at the Arbors at Shelburne. He was born on April 24, 1955, in Newport, Vt., to Paul and Cecile (LeBlanc) Boudreau. Bernard graduated from North Country Union High School in 1973. In his earlier years he built chalets at Alpine Haven in Montgomery, Vt., with his father. CORNWALL — Michael A. Merrill passed away on Oct. 28, 2019, surrounded by his beloved family at the age of 81. He was also affectionately known as Poppa, Pappy, Dad, Husband, Cousin and Uncle Mike.
