ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police were called to Lower Notch Road in Bristol after midnight on Nov. 8 to investigate alleged assaults.
At 1:28 a.m. on that Sunday, troopers responded to a report alleging that Kyle Bartlett, 21, of Bristol, had criminally threatened someone younger than 18 years old and placed that juvenile in fear of serious bodily injury. Further investigation showed that Kyle’s father, Jody Bartlett, 51, of Bristol, had assaulted 27-year-old Kaleb Gorton of Bristol outside a Bristol home, according to state police. 
The responding trooper said Jody Bartlett was armed with a deadly weapon and during the encounter  pointed it at a 20-year-old Bristol resident and placed her in fear of death or serious bodily injury. 
Police further allege that Jody Bartlett lied to troopers in an attempt to implicate another and deflect the investigation.
While investigating, troopers said they discovered Gorton had violated court-ordered conditions of release.
Gorton met with troopers at the New Haven barracks, was cited for violation of conditions of release, and was released.
Police cited Kyle Bartlett for criminal threatening.
Troopers arrested Jody Bartlett and took him to the Bristol Police Department, where he was cited for aggravated assault, simple assault and giving false reports to a law enforcement officer.
Bristol police assisted troopers at the scene.
In other recent activity, VSP troopers:
•  On Nov. 10 at around 8:30 p.m. responded to a report of a family fight in Blaises trailer park in Bristol. After investigating, police alleged Ricky Chobot, 31, of Bristol had violated court-ordered conditions of release and violated an abuse-prevention order. Troopers took Chobot to the New Haven barracks and cited him for those violations. 
•  On Nov. 11, at 5:11 p.m., responded to a two-vehicle crash on Downingsville Road near Quaker Street in Lincoln. Troopers said that Randy Little, 31, of Lincoln was suspected to have been intoxicated when the 1996 Lexus 400 he was driving crashed with a 2019 Ram pickup truck driven by Nathaniel Reynolds, 46, of Lincoln. Police cited Little for driving under the influence, second offense. No one was injured, authorities said. The Lincoln Fire Department assisted state police at the scene.
•  On Nov. 12, at 2:24 p.m., fielded a report of an assault in the Owls Head Harbor Road neighborhood of Addison. State police determined John Lucia, 52, of Bristol had committed a domestic assault and had violated his conditions of release. Troopers cited Lucia for those alleged crimes.
