Field hockey: OV, Eagles net top seeds

ADDISON COUNTY — In final regular-season high school field hockey action late last week, Otter Valley and Mount Abraham won to nail down the top Division II seeds, while Middlebury lost.
The Independent will update its Scoreboard/Schedule at addisonindependent.com when playoff pairings are made official on Monday. First-round games will be played on Tuesday or Wednesday.
OTTERS
On Saturday the Otters bested visiting Brattleboro, 7-1. Alia Edmunds (three goals, assist) and Brittney Jackson (two goals) led the attack, and Ryleigh LaPorte and Morgan LaPorte also scored. The Colonels finished 4-10.
OV finished at 11-2, earning the No 1 seed in D-II. OV will host either U-32 or St. Johnsbury in a weekend quarterfinal.
EAGLES
On Saturday, the Eagles defeated D-I’s No. 1 seed Rice, 2-0. Ava Konczal and Sydney Perlee scored, both on Molly Laurent assists, and goalie Kira Murray made one save. Two Rice goalies combined for six stops.
The 9-3-2 Eagles look likely to host either MUHS or Brattleboro this weekend.
TIGERS
On Saturday visiting Champlain Valley (9-5) topped the Tigers, 5-0. Tiger goalie Ileigh Aube made nine saves as MUHS finished 4-8-2, good for the No. 7 seed in D-II. The Tigers will apparently host Brattleboro in the first round.
