Girls' soccer: Eagles, VUHS earn victories
ADDISON COUNTY — In high school girls’ soccer play late last week Mount Abraham and Vergennes rolled to big wins, but Otter Valley fell short in a shootout.

The Eagles rolled over visiting Rice, 6-0, to improve to 8-1 and maintain their grip on second place in Division II.
Addy Harris led the attack with two goals and two assists, Chloe Johnston scored twice, and Juliette Snell and Sydney Minnerly also found the net. Justice Green backstopped the Eagles’ eighth straight win with 10 saves, and Rice goalie Khadijah Hussein made seven saves.
On Wednesday the Commodores snapped a two-game losing and scoreless skid with a 5-0 victory at Spaulding. Felicia Poirier gave VUHS a 1-0 lead at the break on a feed from Sydney Weber, and the Commodores added four in the second half. Emily Rooney added a goal and two assists; Weber, Maria Malaney and Ali Croke scored; and Poirier set up Rooney’s strike. Goalie Kate Gosliga made one save as VUHS improved to 5-3-1.
On Friday host Mill River edged the Otters, 5-4 in double overtime.Ella Brytkowski scored twice for the Otters, Olivia White scored once and set up the other three goals, and Julia Eastman added the fourth score. OV fell to 2-6-1, with all six losses by one or two goals.
