Girls’ soccer: Tigers are only winners

ADDISON COUNTY — Middlebury was the only local girls’ soccer team to find success during the past week, that coming at the expense of host Otter Valley. Vergennes took an overtime loss at home, and Mount Abraham dropped a pair of games to tough Division I competition.

TIGERS-OTTERS

On Friday, Sept. 10, the Tigers erupted early to put away host OV, 6-0, and improved to 3-0. Hannah Turner scored twice, Lia Robinson and Meredith Horne each had a goal and an assist, Cady Pitner and Becca Orten both scored, and Lily Lapiner and Lily Dame chipped in assists.

Tiger goalie Julia Bartlett made one save, while OV goalie Linnea Faulkner stopped a dozen shots for the 0-4 Otters.

The Tigers were expected to face a stiffer test from visiting Fair Haven on Wednesday, in a game played after the deadline for this edition.

Back on Sept. 8, visiting Woodstock defeated the Otters, 5-0, despite 25 saves credited to Faulkner.

COMMODORES

On Friday, Oct. 10, visiting Missisquoi topped the Commodores, 3-2 in overtime, on a Molly Gagne goal.

The 0-3 Commodores were looking to break through when they hosted Enosburg on Wednesday.

EAGLES
