ADDISON COUNTY — In games wedged in between raindrops late last week, the Middlebury boys’ lacrosse team won in dramatic fashion, the Vergennes-Mount Abraham girls’ lax team kept rolling, softball teams went undefeated, and the Eagle baseball team knocked off an unbeaten foe.

LACROSSE
The young Tiger boys’ lacrosse team on Friday for the second time last week went into overtime — both times after Bode Rubright tied a game in the waning seconds.
This time, they made it count, when late in the overtime session Toby Draper slapped in a loose ball for the game-winner in a 10-9 MUHS victory over host South Burlington.
Rubright finished with six goals, Draper scored three, and Mason Kaufmann added a pair. Goalie Jack Rizzo stopped 11 SB shots, and Wolf goalie Evan Knoth made 13 saves.
Also on Friday, the VUHS-Mount Abe collective girls’ team improved to 5-0 with a 16-6 victory over host U-32. Balanced scoring included contributions from Sydney Weber (three goals, four assists), Hannah Kelly (3G, 2A), Txuxa Konczal (3G, 1A), Ryley Olsen (2G, 1A), Sophie Davis (2G), Halle Huizenga (1G, 3A) and Elena Bronson (1G). Goalie Ashley Tierney made one save.
On Wednesday the Tiger girls got past Burlington, 9-3, on two goals apiece from Reese Fitzgerald, Hana Doria, Sophie Larocque and Alanna Trudeau, and one from Nora Wootten. Goalie Lydia Deppman backstopped the win with eight saves.
Kendall Muzzy scored twice for the Seahorses, and BHS goalie Lea Mihok stopped three shots.
Saturday’s Tiger home game vs. Mount Anthony was moved to Bennington on game day. Available details were few, but the Tigers lost in OT, 9-8, on an Antonia Pellon goal.
On Wednesday visiting Spaulding edged the Mount Abe-VUHS boys’ team, 13-12, as Tide attacker Aiden Blouin amassed five goals and two assists. Tide goalie Chris Howarth made saves.
Griff Paradee led the Eagles with four goals and as assist, and. Sawyer Shepard and Liam Oxford each scored twice. Henry Anderson, Taylor Stearns, Carmelo Miceli and Iain Olsen also found the net, and goalie Aidan Danyow made 10 saves.
The OV boys’ Friday home game was postponed because visiting Stratton had a numbers issue. No makeup date was immediately set.

SOFTBALL
On Thursday the Commodores banged out 12 hits in a 17-11 win over Spaulding in a game shortened to five innings by rain. Sierra Bertrand got the pitching win in relief of Felicia Poirier.
Ema Gernander led the attack by drilling three hits, scoring four runs and driving in a pair. Also contributing were Audrey Tembreull (two hits, three runs, RBI), Poirier (two hits, four RBIs, two runs), Jordan Kimball (two hits, two runs, an RBI) and Bethany Bresnick (two RBIs)
On Saturday, Mount Abe (2-1) shut down host Rice, 9-1, as Eve McCormick tossed a three-hitter and struck out eight. Cami Willsey homered and doubled to lead the attack. Payton Vincent doubled twice, Karissa Livingston and McCormick each had two hits, and Cami Masse doubled.
On Saturday, the Otters rallied with a 14-run fifth inning to defeat visiting Green Mountain Union, 17-13. They trailed by eight runs before they batted around twice in the outburst, fueled both by timely hitting by Mia Politano, Sydney Gallo, Josie Cone, Jadynn Pope, and GMU miscues. 
Earlier in the game Marissa Connors hit an RBI double for OV, and Politano stole home. Niya Hall got the pitching win in relief of Ryley LaPorte. Cone and Grace O’Connell both finished with three hits and three RBIs for OV, and Pope poked four hits.
Otter Valley (2-2) hosts Windsor on Tuesday. 

BASEBALL
On Thursday host Spaulding scored six times in the fifth to clinch a 13-3 victory over the Commodores. Winning pitcher Grady Chase allowed just two hits to VUHS, including an RBI single to Tucker Stearns. The Tide improved to 3-0 heading into a Saturday doubleheader at Mount Abe.
On Saturday the Eagles split a doubleheader with visiting Spaulding. The Eagles won the opener, 5-0, as Adam Mansfield tossed a six-hit shutout, striking out four. Mansfield also poked an RBI double, and Colby Lathrop added a pair of hits for the 3-2 Eagles.
Spaulding (4-1) claimed the nightcap, 17-3, in five innings, putting the game away with a seven-run third inning. Lathrop doubled twice for the Eagles, and Carter Monks singled twice.
OV’s game on Thursday was postponed to Monday, and Mount Abe’s game on Thursday was postponed to May 10.
