Tiger tennis teams awarded high seeds

MIDDLEBURY — Both Middlebury Union High School tennis teams put the wraps on successful regular seasons late last week and earned high playoff seeds.

The Tiger girls’ team defeated visiting Spaulding on Friday, 6-1, to complete an undefeated campaign at 10-0.

The top-seeded Tigers will open in the Division II playoffs this Thursday at 3 p.m. against the winner of a play-in contest between No. 8 Harwood and No. 9. Rice. A win would propel the Tigers into a home semifinal on Saturday at 3 p.m. vs. either No. 4 U-32 (7-4) or No. 5 Mount Mansfield (6-6). No. 2 Burr & Burton (12-2) and No. 3 Montpelier (9-2) are on the other side of the bracket.
