Women’s lacrosse claims two lopsided wins

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team picked up two lopsided road wins this past weekend to improve to 3-0, 2-0 in NESCAC play, and stretch the program’s winning streak to 25 games.
The defending NCAA Division III and NESCAC champion returns to action on Saturday at 2 p.m., when the Panthers host league foe Trinity.
On this past Sunday the Panthers rolled past non-league foe Springfield, 24-3, scoring 12 goals in each half.
Middlebury’s Jane Earley led the attack with three goals and two assists. Emily Barnard, Grace Getman, Kirsten Murphy, Niki Mormile and Susan Rowley added three goals apiece, and Kate Zecca scored once and assisted three goals.
Erin Nicholas controlled five draws, scooped five ground balls, caused four turnovers and scored once, and Panther goalie Julia Keith made five saves. Springfield’s Allison Delmonte recorded a goal and an assist. Brenna Keefe made five stops and allowed 17 goals in 41:32, while Emily McDermott did not make a save in the final 18:28.
 On Saturday the Panthers took a 13-3 halftime lead on the way to a 16-5 victory at NESCAC rival Connecticut (2-1). The Panthers closed the first half on an 11-1 run.
Earley (four goals, three assists) and Barnard (three goals, four assists) led the way, while Rowley scored three times and Murphy added two goals. Emma White paced the defense with four caused turnovers and three ground balls, while Erica Barr had caused three turnovers and scooped three ground balls. Nicholas controlled seven draws. Keith finished with four saves in 50:19 and allowed three goals, and Allie Battista played the final 9:41.
For the Camels, Mazey Loomis scored twice, and goalie Nina Fazio made eight saves.
